Youth Fest 2025 - That's a wrap
September saw the return of Youth Fest 2025 with a focus on young people across the state, with CFA recognising and championing young people and amplifying their voices.
CFA heard from Brodie Hank of Jancourt Fire Brigade, CFA's youngest first lieutenant, and Sam Galvin of Gembrook Fire Brigade about their journey and experiences in CFA.
We also celebrated the closure of the Emerging Young Leaders Mentoring Program where participants in the program were recognised for their achievements over the six-month program. Chief Officer Jason Heffernan left the emerging young leaders with a special message.
“I want to encourage each and every one of you to continue. Continue your leadership journey, it doesn’t stop today, it starts today. Like any other skill, if you don’t practise your leadership, if you don’t put it into action, it’s a skill that you do lose. Go forth. Be leaders. Do good things. Be good people. And your organisations will be so much richer for it,” Jason said.
CFA also saw two teams head off to Sydney for the 2025 Australian Fire Cadets Championships. During the four-day championship, running from 29 September to 2 October, Cadet teams from various services in Australia and New Zealand showcased their skills, engaged in friendly competition, and most importantly had some fun.
