CFA and Natural Hazards Research Australia (NHRA) have announced a new research initiative aimed at improving fire safety in agricultural settings and are seeking researchers/consultants to assist with the project.

The initiative has been funded by CFA and will be coordinated by NHRA.

The project, titled Understanding Ignition Trends and Agricultural Fire Risk, will investigate the causes and patterns of fires linked to farming activities, particularly during harvest.

The research will focus on identifying ignition sources, assessing risks to communities and emergency responders, and informing evidence-based safety thresholds.

The goal is to reduce the impact of fires on rural communities.

Expressions of interest are now open for researchers, fire agencies, and agricultural stakeholders to contribute to this important work.
