Recognising our commitment to safety

Meet the winners of our National Safe Work Month Awards - the individuals who go above and beyond in promoting a safe working environment for our members.

Every day across CFA, people quietly go the extra mile to look out for one another and make our workplaces safer.

In October, National Safe Work Month gave us a chance to shine a light on those efforts and celebrate the people behind them.

From identifying hazards before they cause harm to leading by example in their brigades and offices, these individuals have shown what it truly means to live our value of safety.

Their actions remind us that creating a safe and supportive environment doesn’t come from one big initiative it comes from the everyday choices we make to care for our people.

To acknowledge these efforts, regional leaders nominated members who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to safety.

Congratulations to the following people for their outstanding contributions.

Matt Thomas - CFA volunteer, Eltham Fire Brigade
Shane Bailey - Commander
Gail Horsted - CFA employee
Marc Ampt - CFA volunteer, Horsham Brigade captain
Stephen Robertson - 1st Lieutenant, Geelong West
Leanne Munro - CFA employee
Owen Swanton - CFA volunteer, Milawa Fire Brigade
Tracy McVea - CFA employee

Thank you to all nominees and everyone who continues to make CFA a safer place to work and volunteer. Your actions big and small help shape a strong and more resilient organisation.
