Awareness training packages for Electric Vehicles and Compressed Air Foam Systems are now available on the Learning Hub.

The packages are open to all members and there’s no assessment required.

Electric Vehicle awareness

Electric Vehicles are becoming more common on our roads, and with them come new challenges for firefighters.

This Australia-wide training package is designed to equip members with the essential knowledge and skills to respond to EV-related incidents.

Developed by fire and emergency service experts across Australia, the package is designed to reflect current best practice and real-world scenarios.

There are eight interactive modules covering EV hazards, response strategies and safety protocols to ensure responders feel confident and prepared to manage EV fire emergencies.

A facilitator’s guide is also available to support group delivery of the course.

Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS) awareness

Compressed Air Foam Systems (CAFS) are a powerful tool for improving fire suppression, reducing water use and protecting property.

Relevant to members who turn out to both rural and urban incidents, this 30-minute course includes the identification of foam properties, proportions, classifications, formulations and how to determine if use of Compressed Air Foam (CAF) is appropriate.

It also includes knowledge of the features, benefits, limitations and safe application and operation of the system.

Look out for awareness courses in solar, battery energy storage systems and wind generation which are currently under development.
