New Commander in District 11

Welcome Commander Tony Ford Welcome Commander Tony Ford

Tony Ford has officially transferred from District 8 to take on the role of Commander Reliever in District 11.

Tony’s CFA journey started in 1983 as a Junior member at Gundowring in north-east Victoria. From there, he moved to Upper Ferntree Gully Fire Brigade, where he held positions as 4th and 1st Lieutenant before stepping up as Captain. During his time as Captain, Tony began his career as a recruit firefighter at Fiskville in January 2000.

Since then, Tony’s experience has spanned major stations in District 8 including Frankston, Dandenong, and Hallam, plus stints in Wangaratta and Wodonga for 16 months as a Leading Firefighter and 12 months at Sunbury.

In 2008, he instructed on a recruit course at Fiskville, later completing his Station Officer assessment and earning a promotion to Mornington in 2013.

Training and developing people has always been Tony’s passion. He spent years with CFA’s Promotional Assessments team, including three years full-time at VEMTC Bangholme as Senior Station Officer. Tony also worked with Fire Rescue Victoria in Learning and Development, before returning to CFA as a Structural Instructor and then Commander in 2021.

He’s been involved in the SER Emerging Leaders program in District 8 and was a guest at this year’s State Emerging Leaders program.

Having grown up on a dairy farm in the Kiewa Valley, Tony is now back in a country setting, so don’t be surprised if he’s as happy talking farming as he is fire brigade!

Welcome to the team, Tony We’re excited to have your experience and leadership in District 11.
