Thousands of members have contributed to the review of the CFA workwear collection through a recent survey and series of workshops, providing valuable insights into the current range and opportunities for future improvements.

The CFA workwear upgrade project is underway, reviewing the existing collection and exploring design updates to better support the diverse needs and roles of members.

The review is considering fit, fabric quality, durability, functionality, design and overall comfort.

As part of the project, CFA has partnered with Today, a design company that specialises in inclusive apparel design and development.

More than 2,550 members completed a survey about their experiences with the current workwear range. The feedback has provided a clear picture of members’ priorities and areas where the collection could be improved.

To further explore the survey findings, interactive workshops were held with interested members from across the state.

“We had a fantastic response to the survey, with the results providing us with a clear understanding of our members’ experiences, preferences and priorities,” Acting Manager Infrastructure Services Tina Molinaro said.

“The workshop discussions allowed participants to share their experiences and ideas in greater depth, helping us better understand the issues raised and identify additional opportunities for improvement.

“The combination of survey feedback and workshop insights has provided the project team with a strong evidence base to help inform the next stages of the workwear review.”

The common themes across the survey and workshops were:

  • breathability, comfort, colour-fastness and durability of fabric
  • the need to improve flexibility in workwear items to accommodate body changes and physical needs
  • sizing to be consistent across the workwear range
  • consider female cut options for certain items
  • improve certain fastenings, pockets and other features to improve ability to carry CFA hardware and personal belongings
  • need for a warm layer option (e.g. jumper) and under garments to turn out in

The project team will now conduct a full review of the survey responses and workshop findings, and the design consultant will provide advice on potential updates to the workwear design.

“Thank you to all the members who contributed their time and provided feedback throughout the consultation process,” Tina said.

The project is expected to run until August 2026. For further information visit Members Online.
