Looking back at our 80th year
As we approach the end of the year, we acknowledge the resilience and unwavering service of our volunteers and staff in safeguarding people, communities and the environment across Victoria.
This year held special significance as we marked 80 years since our formation, noting the volunteer firefighting movement’s longer history in the Victoria. This milestone allowed us to reflect on our past, celebrate key milestones and innovations over the years, and honour the vital contributions of all members for their leadership and service.
In our Year in Review, we highlight some of the defining moments that shaped CFA over the past 12 months. From statewide community engagement through initiatives like the Get Fire Ready campaign, to operational response across fires, road incidents and rescues, and fundraising for the Good Friday Appeal - our members have once again shown exceptional dedication to their brigades, CFA and the wider Victorian community.
Our people have also focused on strengthening our future - embracing new training opportunities, contributing to research and innovation nationally and internationally, recruiting new members, and supporting major upgrades to equipment and brigade facilities to ensure CFA remains strong for years to come.
As we enter the busiest period of the year, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all CFA members and their families. Your efforts during this demanding time - often at personal cost - embody the spirit that defines CFA.
We wish you a safe and happy Christmas and New Year, and we look forward to working with you in 2026. Together, we will build on the progress of 2025 and continue strengthening Victoria’s resilience and protecting what matters most.
