January Volunteer Forum driving change in training
With the Chief committed in the State Control Centre to manage the current fire activities, DCO Operational Doctrine and Training Rohan Luke hosted the January Volunteer Forum from West Sale VEMTC.
Focused on initiatives and updates in the driver training space, volunteers received all the latest news related to courses, instructors and SOPs.
Rohan jumped into one of the new training trucks to tackle the off-road course alongside pad supervisor Richard Mawson, before both joined members of the training team on the panel to update on driver licensing, on-road and off-road courses, and improvements to training pathways.
We also had two driving instructors on the panel, Geordie Akeroyd and David Jarratt, to provide perspectives from their areas as well as an overview on the development of a mobile driving simulator.
We also featured videos highlighting the new Scania pumper cab chassis and a community member thanking Hastings Fire Brigade.
