Invergordon resident’s tribute to CFA becomes viral song
Invergordon resident Brittany Sutton has penned a poem to thank CFA members for their efforts during the fire season, particularly their response to the Yarroweyah–Muckatah fires.
The poem has since been transformed into a song using AI software and has gone viral on social media.
Brittany said the inspiration for Our Heroes came from the Yarroweyah fire being so close to home and from witnessing firsthand the efforts of firefighters to save lives and property.

Lotta good people fighting that fire.
Fire trucks on the highway.
Everyone trying to get away.
While the heroes going in the other way.
So here’s to the heroes who run toward the flames.
Who hold our hope when we feel afraid.
To the ones in yellow in boots worn thin.
You carried our towns, you carried our kin.
When the smoke clears we remember your names – our heroes.
Our heroes.
Our heroes out there doing all they can.
Praying for rain, lord lend a hand.
We’re trying our hardest, all around the country.
They don’t get paid.
Still doing what they can to save.
Making sure our lives don’t go to waste.
No money. Fighting for free.
All for the community.
If the whole country could come together.
We could all be heroes, but we can’t be.
Our heroes out there doing all they can.
Praying for rain, lord lend a hand.
We’re trying our hardest, all around the country.
They don’t get paid.
Still doing what they can to save.
Making sure our lives don’t go to waste.
So let Australia be one.
