CFA at Midsumma Pride March

Calling for participants to march with CFA Calling for participants to march with CFA

CFA is proud to recognise Midsumma Pride March, a significant Victorian community event that celebrates the diversity, contribution and lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ people.

Participation in Pride March aligns with CFA’s commitment to respect, inclusion and belonging, and supports our responsibility as a public sector organisation to foster safe, inclusive and welcoming environments for our people and the communities we serve.

It is one of the ways CFA demonstrates that discrimination, exclusion and harassment have no place in CFA.

Current fires

We know this comes at a time when many in our community are facing enormous challenges, with fires impacting homes and livelihoods and our thoughts are with CFA members working tirelessly. For some, it may feel like the timing is difficult, and we understand that not everyone will be able to join us this year.

For those who can, Midsumma Pride March remains an important moment to come together, celebrate resilience, and show solidarity. Registrations are now open.

Why CFA participates

CFA’s participation in Midsumma Pride March is about:

  • Visibility and inclusion - affirming that LGBTQIA+ members, volunteers, employees and allies are valued and respected
  • Community connection - standing alongside the communities we serve and acknowledging their diversity
  • Psychological safety - reinforcing CFA’s commitment to fostering environments where people are supported, respected and encouraged to participate without fear of discrimination
  • Alignment with CFA values - respect, integrity and care for one another.

Who can participate?

Participation is open to all CFA volunteers and employees, their families, friends and supporters who are interested in taking part and supporting CFA’s commitment to inclusion and respect.

Uniform

Midsumma organisers advised “Arising from extensive feedback from our diverse communities and discussions with a range of stakeholders, Midsumma will continue to trial the process in 2026 which involves participants in the march not wearing formal workplace uniforms”.

For CFA we can wear our 'yellows'  and/or brigade tee shirt or neat casual wear.

What participation involves

Marching in Midsumma Pride March is a positive, family-friendly community event. CFA participants march together as a coordinated emergency services group, showing visible support for inclusion while maintaining professionalism and respect.

Further information will be provided to registered participants closer to the event, including:

  • event logistics and timing
  • meeting points and coordination
  • safety, wellbeing and conduct expectations.
