Casterton Fire Brigade celebrated its 55th Annual Dinner on Saturday 11 October at the Casterton-Sandford Football Netball Clubrooms.

Twelve members were honoured with service awards this year:

10 years – Lee Condon

15 years – Betty Cook, Don Wilson, Bevan Wombwell, Wendy Kerr

35 years – Glenn Kerr

40 years – David Bunnik

50 years – Brian Wombwell, Graham Devereux, Mary Joyce

55 years – Gwen McFarlane

65 years – Leo Nolte.

A posthumous National Medal 5th Clasp was presented to the family of the late Terry Baker.

Captain Bevan Wombwell talked about the brigade's 60 call-outs over the past 12 months.

He thanked members for their dedication in response to the 16 October 2024 hailstorm that impacted the Casterton township and parts of the surrounding district. Members responded while their own homes and families were being impacted by the storm.

The multi-agency response was a credit to all involved and brought to the fore Casterton’s community spirit.
