CFA was warmly welcomed into the Gellibrand Community House Wednesday evening with many community members present to watch the February Volunteer Forum.

As the community recovers from the January fires, several local staff members and volunteers shared their experiences from the different incident activity in District 6, which included bushfire, grass fire and floods.

Captains Tony Robertson (Gellibrand), Robert May (Carlisle River) and Tim Phillips (Kawarren) spoke with the Acting CEO Jason Heffernan about how the three brigades work together and how their respective communities pulled together during and post the January fires.

Member Kirsten Dudink enlightened the audience on balancing the role of staff member (SWR Volunteer Sustainability Team) and volunteer (Carlisle River secretary), as well as the crucial work she is jointly driving on the evaluation and progression of the role of the groups in the district.

As well two Board members, Bryce Morden and Peter Shaw, discussed their different hats and updates were provided on the Contemporary Volunteer Membership Model (CVMM) and After Action Reviews (AAR) post the January fires throughout the state.
