VEMTC Penshurst training facility was very busy during April with industry from Ballarat completing four days of extensive hot fire training. Emergency response teams were put to the test by the industry instructors.

Woodford and Koroit fire brigades from District 5 also enjoyed a day each doing hot fire skills maintenance sessions. Scenarios were designed for the brigades to train around the risks they face at their respective locations.

Along with skills maintenance, District 5 and District 6 held a practical Low Structure day where the 2 districts could train and assess their members in Low Structure.

In addition to hot fire training, Dunkeld VICSES volunteers completed Confined Space Search and Rescue where scenarios were developed to simulate earthquake and structural collapse. The unit was required to complete a risk assessment prior to entry along with extracting the casualties and triage. Dunkeld Unit members gave fantastic feedback about their experience..

Finally, we were fortunate to have Victoria Police train 18 members over three days in Emergency Management for Supervisors, and Ambulance Victoria trained 17 members in Strategic Command with a scenario involving a train derailment and another incident involving a bus with a large number of casualties.

It has been fantastic to see all the varied emergency services using VEMTC Penshurst.

Please contact your District Training Coordinator to book a training session at VEMTC Penshurst.
