Two Life Members in one
Russell Mills received two Life Member awards
Russell Mills, who was a member of Woodside Fire Brigade for more than 36 years, recently received two awards.
Russell was a very active member of Woodside brigade, the brigade group and the local community. Although the brigade doesn't get a lot of callouts each year, since CFA has kept records Russell has attended more than 190 incidents.
He has held every position in the brigade management team and was captain for eight years. And when large fires occurred, Russell always joined a strike team on the Woodside tanker or as a strike team leader.
After leaving Woodside brigade Russell joined Hillside Fire Brigade in District 11.
Everyone at Woodside brigade thanks him for his service.
Eight other CFA members recently received service awards for their contribution to the Woodside community and CFA.
Fiona Quinlan and Jeff Lewis received 10-year medals, Wayne Crawford and Darren Richardson 20-year medals, Karl Tschugguel 30-year medal, and 45-year medals for Ron Bragg, Bryan Walpole and Robert Wight.
Woodside is a small brigade with only a handful of active members, but they are pleased they recently gained three new members who completed General Firefighter. Woodside brigade and the community welcome Brendon, Elaine and Brad.
On the night of the awards presentation the pagers went off - thanks to those members who attended the fire instead of receiving their awards that night.
Thanks Russell
