State Championships shaping up to be a fantastic event

Planning for the 2022 Urban and Rural State Championships is well underway, with the events scheduled to take place in late March in Mooroopna.

Last year we saw history made, with both Urban and Rural events taking place at the same venue for the first time, and in 2022 this will continue. Our Urban Juniors will compete on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 March, while our Urban Senior, Rural Junior and Senior competitors will take to the field on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 March.

Last year’s event was a fantastic display of firefighting skills, and I look forward to seeing the talent that this year’s Championships brings. The atmosphere at the Champs is electric, and it’s wonderful to see members from all across the state come together, network and compete together.

The 2022 event will feature an upscale of the women’s-only events, following a successful introduction in 2021. Women will not only be able to compete in events across the board, but this year there will also be five women’s-only events. We hope this encourages participation from more of our female members and allows them to compete in what is a fun and supportive environment.

This year will also see the return of the modern operational appliance events as introduced last year. Competitors at the 2022 Championships will be able to compete in the Hose Hydrant and Tanker event, Pumper and Ladder event and Hose Hydrant and Pumper event.

The Championships are a great way to meet members from all parts of Victoria, compete in a friendly environment and learn, but also provide us with an incredible opportunity to promote and celebrate the work that CFA does across the state.

I encourage all brigades across the state to come along to Mooroopna and take part in this fantastic event.

Registrations are now open for the 2022 Championships. More information can be found here.

The State Championships will be a COVID-safe event, with multiple precautions in place to ensure the safety of all attendees.
