South East Region’s Women’s Challenge Camp set to expand statewide
Expanding the Women's Challenge Camp to other regions will offer more women members the chance to participate in this valuable networking and leadership program.
Traditionally, the Women’s Challenge Camp was an annual program bringing together women volunteers from South East Region for personal development, leadership training, team building and networking. The program’s success has been so significant that plans are underway to expand it statewide, with funding from the Volunteer Leadership Development Program.
Olivia Duffey, Volunteer Sustainability Team member and Women’s Network Project Lead, South East region, shared her excitement about the expansion.
“The Women’s Challenge Camp is an initiative which we are extremely proud of. It offers immense benefits by helping our members build confidence, develop as strong leaders, and engage in personal and professional growth within the emergency services environment," Olivia said.
"Expanding this program across the state is thrilling as it allows us to support each region in running the camp. This expansion will have a lasting, positive impact on members throughout the state.
"We hope our members and leaders recognise the benefits of this program and encourage participation. Such support and opportunities enable us to be a progressive emergency service, providing equitable opportunities for all.”
Lisa Peters, Volunteer Sustainability Team Regional Manager, South East region, added, “The statewide implementation of the Women’s Challenge Camp is fantastic news, broadening the opportunity for more female members to participate.
"This program, developed following member feedback, offers evidence-based leadership development that addresses our members' needs. It has been rewarding to see members grow, gain confidence, and be empowered through networking, continuing their leadership journey in both personal and professional realms. This is a significant step forward in supporting gender equity in CFA.”
