On Sunday 13 November, CFA members are invited to attend a cultural immersion tour in South West Region on Wadawurrung Country at Point Addis National Park.

Together we will learn about traditional culture and dreaming stories of the local area. We will conclude the tour with a discussion about cultural burning and exploring our role as CFA members in the conservation of local culture when responding to incidents.

This cultural immersion tour will be led by Wadawurrung man Barry Gilson, who is a singer, poet and actor.

Barry specialises in bringing back the ancient words and language of his people the 'Wathaurung', and working hard to reinstate a lost culture that has survived genocide and colonisation.

He has overcome great odds to work towards leaving a legacy of hope and survival for future generations. The past he believes is the greatest strength he has, because without it there is no future.
