Providing a platform for young adults

As part of Victorian Youth Fest 2024, we are shining a light on and celebrating the contributions of CFA’s young people.
One key initiative that elevates the voices of young people within CFA is the Young Adults Advisory Committee (YAAC). Its main function is to allow CFA members aged 18-30, to engage directly with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Officer (CO).
First set up in 2019, the YAAC provides a platform for young adults to present ideas, share personal experiences, and create solutions to improve the volunteer experience.
Being part of the YAAC also provides members with training and professional development opportunities.
James Gluskie, a firefighter from Montrose Fire Brigade, began his time at CFA as a Junior, and he is passionate about bringing more young people into CFA. For him, being part of the YAAC has been invaluable.
“It’s a phenomenal platform to be able to network with like-minded people; to be able to have a say, have input, learn about things CFA are coming out with, and have fun too.” James said.
Hear more about the YAAC from James and other members in the video below.
