Privacy Awareness Week (PAW), from 16-22 June, is an annual event celebrated by the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner (OVIC) to raise awareness of privacy rights, issues and trends and the importance of good privacy practices.

This year's theme is Privacy: It's everyone's business.

OVIC is hosting several, free to attend, webinars around privacy related risks and topics. If you are interested in attending one of these events, you can register your interest through the OVIC website

As part of an ongoing improvements to how we manage our privacy responsibilities, a number of new processes and resources have been developed.

These include:

Standardising the collection of information via Expressions of Interest processes

A new EOI form to manage the collection of expression of interests for CFA activities is now available.

The new template aims to standardise EOI information collection across CFA and reduce the potential risk of over collection of personal information. You can access the template through our intranet page.

Streamlining the Privacy Impact Assessment process

There is a new streamlined process for privacy impact assessments that aims to reduce processing times and workloads. As part of this approach, a new Privacy Threshold Assessment (PTA) tool has been developed to more quickly and easily identify where a detailed impact assessment may be required. You can access the link to the new PTA form through our intranet page.

Simplifying CFA's Privacy Policy and Member Collection Notice

The CFA's privacy policy and member collection notice has also been updated. The policy and notice provide a simple explanation of how CFA handles personal information. You can access the policy and notice here.
