Following the success of previous LGBTIQ+ Awareness and Allyship workshops, an additional two sessions will be held in the coming months.

The training sessions are available to all CFA members. You do not need to be nominated by someone else to attend – you can sign up for this training opportunity yourself.

Seven sessions of this workshop have already been delivered to a wide variety of CFA members to great success and positive feedback.

The training is delivered by Brayden Crane in partnership with the CFA Diversity & Inclusion Team. Brayden specialises in LGBTIQ+ inclusion and has worked in the not-for-profit, private, and public sectors. He has vast knowledge, understanding, and experience in LGBTIQ+ inclusion.

Participants learn:

  • The business case for LGBTIQ+ inclusion and why it is important at CFA;
  • The lived experiences and unique challenges for LGBTIQ+ people and the impact to the workplace;
  • The diversity of, and differences between sex, gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation;
  • LGBTIQ+ intersectionality;
  • The role that allies play in creating inclusive environments for LGBTIQ+ people; and
  • Introductory actions you can take to create more inclusive environments at CFA.

Feedback from past participants has included that the training has provided a deeper understanding of the importance of inclusivity, certain terms/language and how best to create a safe and inclusive environment.

The Diversity & Inclusion Team will also provide information on the broader context of Diversity and Inclusion in CFA and the Allies of Inclusion Network at the training.

We encourage you to join the conversation by attending one of the final session two online sessions:

  • Session 1: Thursday 19th May 6:00-9:00pm and
  • Session 2: Tuesday 21st June 1:00-4:00pm
