Learning Hub redevelopment update - February 2025

CFA Digital Library / https://digitallibrary.cfa.vic.gov.au CFA Digital Library / https://digitallibrary.cfa.vic.gov.au

Work on the Learning Hub continues, and we’d like to update you on key activities.

Reporting

We are addressing existing reporting issues and developing new reports to support teams with their daily activities. This ongoing work with ICT will provide relevant groups with updated reports as they roll out.

Key update: The Training Calendar now includes all scheduled courses. Access it via the Learning Hub (Home > Learn > Training Calendar) or find the link on Members Online Training Calendar | CFA Members Online

Skills updates

We are aligning member skill records with Training Pathways for consistency and completeness. This migration will happen progressively over the next few months.

While no skills will be removed, some names or codes may change. For example, members who previously were issued Wildfire firefighter Q0002A will now have been issued Skill Firefighter SKCFAGFF.

Due to the changes in skills some members prerequisites may not appear when a member expresses their interest (nominates) for a course. This will result in a member not being able to complete the expression of interest (EOI) for the course. We are currently working to correct these issues.

If you’ve completed a course but are experiencing issues, please contact your district Learning and Development team for support.

PUAEQU001 and skill acknowledgement

Members who have completed Minimum Skills, Wildfire Firefighter, General Firefighter v1 or General Firefighter v2 will all receive the skill SKCFAGFF and be considered operational.

Members
who completed training prior to GFFv2
do not need to complete PUAEQU001 Prepare, maintain and test equipment to remain operationalHowever, GFF v2 includes PUAEQU001 Prepare, maintain and test equipment for better alignment with pathway progression.

Members requiring PUAEQU001 Prepare, maintain and test equipment for further training (e.g. PUAFIR309 Operate Pumps) can pursue Recognition of Prior Learning where appropriate.

BA skills maintenance

A new BA Skills Maintenance template is now available, incorporating a checklist and automatic skill extensions. When entering records in the Learning Hub, please use BA Skills Maintenance code CFAOBASMA.

Brigade training updates for Brigade Training Coordinators (BTC)

  • LMS support materials: User guides are available in the Learning Hub (Brigade Training Profile > Catalogues > LMS User Guides (Brigades)).
  • Access issues: Some new BTCs are having difficulties in accessing their brigade members' records. We are working to address these issues and will provide updates soon.
  • Skills drills/maintenance:  can be carried out by members who hold the relevant skillIn completing the record within the LMS, the BTC does not need to assign an instructor for these activities.

Expression of Interest: Nomination

With the aim of simplifying the nomination process, members may notice the term 'Passed' on EOI courses (course nomination).

The word ‘Passed’ on EOI courses is indicating members have been approved to undertake the course and they have transferred to the pre-booking template to select a course time that suits.

Staying Informed

We understand keeping up with changes can be challenging. Updates will be shared via emails, Member News, and Members Online.

Your feedback is invaluable. Please submit it via the Training Feedback Portal. For technical issues, log them with the ICT Service Desk.

Thank you for your patience and support.
