January 2023 Volunteer Forum
The recording of last night's Volunteer Forum is now available on Members Online and YouTube.
View on Members Online or YouTube or in the window below. (See direct topic links at the bottom of this article.)
Those of you who tuned in last night for the live stream will be aware that there was a technical issue that led to significant buffering of the livestream throughout the event.
We apologise again for this disruption which was very frustrating for everyone online and for the experienced production team who work hard each month to bring these events to you.
We stage these events from locations across the state to allow local members to ask questions of the panellists. This does create challenges from time to time with connectivity (for example during bad weather in Geelong last year) and possible interruptions if the brigade is called to respond to an incident.
Delivering the forums from a studio would remove some of these challenges but we firmly believe that it's better that these forums provide opportunities for volunteers and brigades to actively participate in person.
The after action review into last night’s event has identified that the cause was an erratic internet connection. We are exploring backup options for future live streams if this issue happens again.
The next Volunteer Forum is planned for International Women's Day on Wednesday 8 March from Penshurst Training Ground and we look forward to having you join us.
