Ignite & Unite Program wraps up with Pomonal celebration
The Ignite & Unite Leadership Development Program has concluded with a celebratory event in Pomonal.
This initiative was spearheaded by ACFO Steve Alcock following recommendations from previous networking events that highlighted the need for leadership development for District 16 women.
The Ignite & Unite Leadership Development Program was then established with the support of the West Region Volunteer Sustainability Team.
The program comprised several sessions aimed at fostering inspiration, networking, confidence and leadership among participants.
Targeted at women at any stage of their leadership journey, the program's goal was to build a foundation for future women leaders who will advance into CFA leadership roles at brigade, group and district levels.
The program kicked off with a dinner featuring guest speakers, former DCO Kaylene Jones and VFBV President Samantha Collins. This was followed by a networking session involving the group and District 16 staff.
The core of the program consisted of two workshops led by rural leadership specialist Cynthia Mahoney. These sessions emphasised the importance of psychological safety, understanding team dynamics and managing personal challenges.
Participants gained valuable tools applicable to their personal and professional lives, as well as their roles within the CFA.
In June, the group reconvened for a final celebration with Torbjorn Servin, General Manager People and Culture, who presented participants with Ignite & Unite lapel pins.
