There’s still time to recognise an outstanding CFA member by nominating them for the prestigious Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM) as part of the 2026 Australia Day Honours.

Do you know a CFA member who has made an outstanding contribution to the fire services and their community? Someone who has shown extraordinary commitment and expertise on the fireground?

Now is the time to recognise them for this contribution by nominating them for an AFSM as part of the 2026 Australia Day Honours. Nominations for this round close 1 May.

The AFSM is the highest accolade in the fire services, celebrating individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication and service to their communities in hazardous conditions.

CFA members may be considered for the AFSM if they:

  • Are current serving members working on the frontline (within the past two years)
  • Utilise their frontline experience to educate and train others
  • Have made a significant, distinguished or outstanding contribution to CFA and beyond

If you're ready to nominate an extraordinary CFA member:

Submit your nomination with two supporting references by 1 May 2025 to ensure your nominee is considered.
