CFA’s new workwear display and the fitting rooms was one of the most popular exhibits at this year’s State Championships, with volunteers queuing to try on the new clothing ahead of the rollout in coming weeks.

Volunteers have already registered for their new gear through their brigades, but the chance to see, feel and test out the new clothing in person proved to be a hit with members.

Staff from CFA’s Workwear project team were on hand over the two weekends to explain the range of garments and answer questions in relation to size, fit, availability and delivery procedures.

“It’s been incredible. We’ve had so many volunteers coming in to look at the workwear and get fitted and they are overwhelmingly positive and excited about the clothing,” CFA’s Head of Fleet and Protective Equipment Danny Jones said.

“This has been a long time coming for our members and they can’t wait to get into the new workwear which will give them a clear identity as a CFA volunteer when they are undertaking their role in the community outside of their emergency response.”

A display of the latest in CFA’s fleet, protective clothing and other equipment also prompted many questions and discussions with staff within the large marquee, which was located close to the events track at Mooroopna, enabling participants to wander through at their leisure.

CFA’s Virtual Reality technology was a highlight, with dozens of visitors, many of them potential young firefighters in the making, donning the headsets to try out their skills in a variety of simulations designed to replicate real-life scenarios.

A display of the new Volunteer Recruitment Hub provided the opportunity for members to see how the new system will support them in tracking and monitoring the recruitment process.

Over the course of the two weekends, more than 100 CFA staff manned the displays showcasing the large range of programs and initiatives underway to support volunteers and the critical work they do to keep their communities safe.
