Exercise Right Month 2025
Exercise benefits our health and wellbeing in so many ways, including reduced risk of chronic health conditions, reduced pain and improved physical functioning for everyday life.
While exercise is important for everyone, the right type of exercise for one person will be different for another.
CFA Health Services recently ran the annual Exercise Challenge, Active April, where participants competed in teams to accumulate as much time spent exercising as possible throughout the month of April. One participant from the challenge has shared how incorporating movement and exercise into everyday life has improved their health and wellbeing.
“I try to find as many opportunities to exercise as I can. I now go for a walk during my lunch break, which has made me feel a lot more energised, not only for the afternoon of work, but for my family when I get home as well," they said.
Whether you took part in CFA’s Active April Challenge or not, there is another opportunity to keep you and your team motivated to continue those regular exercise habits throughout May or to get started and get moving. Exercise Right Month is an annual campaign that aims to raise awareness around the benefits of exercise to your health and getting the right advice for your individual needs.
This year, Exercise Right is running from 1-31 May, focusing on the benefits of movement for your health and wellbeing.
You can get involved by hosting an event, getting your workplace involved, or attending a local event to get more active. Visit the following link to register your interest: Exercise Right 2025
To help you find a way to move that suits you and your activities with CFA and beyond, CFA Health Services also have a range of free exercise programs reviewed by an ESSA exercise physiologist. In addition, the Health Services team have just created a new Get Active resource; Get Active. Whilst the Get Active resource was designed for CFA’s new Fit Teens Program, it is accessible and suitable for all members and all ages.
The exercise program can be delivered in a circuit format at fire stations with minimal equipment, so the exercises are more accessible. The program focuses on all the key muscle groups used in everyday life and can help prepare you for the physically demanding role of firefighting.
Contact healthservices@cfa.vic.gov.au for more information about the resources available to you.
