Driving and Heavy Vehicle licence training
CFA Digital Library / https://digitallibrary.cfa.vic.gov.au
These state-run courses are in addition to any district-run courses and are open to all members across the state.
The Volunteer Driving Training Project is running state-coordinated Drive Vehicles Under Operations Conditions and Perform Complex Four Wheel Drive Operations courses, advertised through the Learning Hub at this link.
Submit your expression of interest through the driving pathway catalogue to see upcoming courses, then check advertised courses through Learn > My learning > Pending Enrolments > Course > Available Courses tabs. Courses released under the project will continue to be promoted across the state in the next 12 months.
Funding is available for accommodation and meals for members attending courses to support attendance.
Heavy Vehicle Licence Training
Members are reminded that heavy vehicle licence training is being supported by the Volunteer Driver Training Project. Expressions of interest should be submitted via LMS. If your EOI is approved by your supervisor and district, you will be able to follow the steps on Members Online to book in with one of our approved training providers.
Districts are likewise reminded that approvals must be processed in LMS for members to be able to book in their training as soon as possible.
Members who have completed their heavy vehicle licence training are also reminded that members who intend to drive any CFA firefighting appliance must ensure that driver licence details are recorded in Members Online as per SOP 12.03.
To make this requirement easier for members, we've updated the process to enable any person with brigade administrator permission levels to update drivers licence information on behalf of a member. The system stores information in an encrypted format to ensure the security of member information.
