Clean Up Australia Day 2024
Clean Up Australia Day is fast approaching, and we're rallying the CFA community to join forces in this nationwide environmental endeavour.
On 3 March 2024, volunteers across Australia will gather to clean up our parks, beaches, waterways and urban areas from litter and waste.
Plastic waste remains the number one littered material, with a 17 per cent increase between 2021 and 2022.
There is also a new type of waste that is becoming more and more prevalent in our environment, which also poses a significant fire risk. Vapes, and other e-waste that use lithium-ion batteries, can cause fires if left to overheat or become punctured or damaged.
Clean Up Australia Day is a great way for our CFA members to get involved, clean up our local area and raise awareness among the wider community about the importance of proper waste disposal.
CFA’s participation in the campaign is a great opportunity to attract new volunteers who are passionate about community service, volunteering, and environmental advocacy.
