CFA's smallest firefighting appliance?

If Upper Beaconsfield brigade’s trucks are all out fighting fires, and a fire breaks out near the fire station or at a local commercial building, they can still respond thanks to a hand-drawn trolley equipped with firefighting gear.

Brigade members tracked down unused but operational items and serviced them, these are stowed on the trolley ready for action. There is at least 150 metres of hose and a range of nozzles and fittings. It can draw water from hydrants in the reticulated system without needing a pump.

Upper Beaconsfield Captain Ian Pinney praised firefighter Alan Dale for his work on this project.

"The brigade trolley is simple but practical way to ensure that our members have access to essential firefighting equipment to protect the local township in the event of all brigade appliances being committed,” Ian said. “I commend Alan for his forethought and resourcefulness in bringing this project to fruition."
