Celebrating the success of the 2025 LSV Ready To Lead Program
CFA graduates with their sponsors and senior leaders
On 31 May, 27 CFA women graduated from the inspiring Ready to Lead interagency leadership program designed to empower both aspiring and current women leaders.
This year's program brought together women from across the sector including Life Saving Victoria, VICSES, Ambulance Victoria, Fire Rescue Victoria, EMV and CFA.
CFA was represented by a dynamic mix of women participants - 10 employees, 12 volunteers, and six who are both volunteers and employees - demonstrating the strength and diversity of leadership potential across the state.
This initiative was more than a leadership course; it was a practical and immersive experience aimed at equipping participants with real-world tools and strategies to apply directly to their CFA, professional and personal lives. With a focus on practical application, participants explored challenges and opportunities relevant to their own contexts, building not just knowledge but confidence and capability.
A standout of the program was the relationships formed along the way. Through collaboration and shared experiences, participants connected with one another, creating a network of trust and support. In addition to peer relationships, participants were guided by a group of dedicated and inspiring 'connectors' - senior leaders and professionals who generously gave their time to support, mentor, and champion the women on their leadership journey.
The graduation event was a true celebration of growth, courage, and achievement. With senior leadership and sponsor presence, the event featured a leadership panel - offering thought-provoking insights, and a 'world tour' style presentation. In this interactive showcase, participants led their senior leaders and sponsors through the key lessons learned and activities they had completed throughout the course, highlighting their personal and collective progress.
One participant captured the spirit of the program beautifully, sharing: “I leave with a network of supporters who believe in me and I can’t thank them enough for the impact they've had. Thank you for allowing me to lean on you and for celebrating my success.”
This interagency leadership program stands as a powerful example of what can be achieved when we invest in the growth of our women leaders, and when women are given the tools, support, and belief to lead boldly.
