The Brigade Open Day Initiative helps brigades to host a community open day by giving them $150 towards costs. A total of 116 brigades received the payment in 2024.

This initiative is part of the Valuing Volunteers Program and funded by the Victorian Government.

With key themes of recruitment, community engagement, and fire safety awareness, these events attracted more than 20,000 attendees statewide last year, strengthening connections between brigades and their local communities.

By using the Activity Reporting Tool to record events, brigades have collected valuable information about volunteer effort and achievements, which helps CFA to advocate for grant funds and other resources.

This initiative highlights the vital role of CFA volunteers and the importance of community preparedness, reinforcing ongoing efforts to support and value volunteerism in Victoria.

Successful brigades should have received their payment last week.
