Board members tour South West

DCO Luke, Tony and Rachel meet with Dereel brigade members Captain Robert Hill, Justine Dirago and Darryn Hill

 

New Board members Rachel Thompson and Tony Peak have toured parts of South West Region to gain an understanding of regional and district responsibilities as well as meet with volunteers.

 

After being welcomed by South West Region DCO Rohan Luke, Rachel and Tony joined District 7 ACFO Brendan Lawson and Lara captain Roger Buckle for a tour of Lara Fire Station.  

Captain Shannon Robinson welcomed the group to the SES/CFA co-located facility at Bannockburn, where they were joined for lunch by Captain Greg Archer from Little River brigade and Captain Dean Harding from Stonehaven brigade.  

The tour culminated in a visit to Dereel station where they met with Captain Robert Hill and members Justine Dirago and Darryn Hill.

“It was terrific to be able to speak to volunteers working at the coalface, to hear their stories and learn about some of the challenges and successes that their role entails,” Tony said.

Rachel agreed: “The opportunity for an open discussion with the volunteers was invaluable.”  
“Their pride and enthusiasm for their roles in the CFA and what they do for their communities was impressive.”
