There's still time to nominate a CFA member for the Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM) as part of the 2025 King's Birthday honours, with nominations for this round closing 1 November.

The AFSM is the highest honour available in the fire services. It recognises people providing meritorious service in hazardous circumstances and is intended for current serving members who work on the frontline with prolonged exposure to hazard in the service of the community.

Members can be considered for an AFSM if they:

  • Are current serving members (within two years) who work on the frontline with prolonged exposure to hazard
  • Use their frontline experience for training or educating others
  • Significant, distinguished or outstanding contribution to CFA and more broadly
