Steptember 2024 Team Challenge success
Our Steptember 2024 Winners - Pow Wow from Sale
2024 saw a record number of teams participate in the Steptember Team Challenge.
Eighty-three teams across 435 members stepped up throughout September and took a combined 133,829,873 steps, equating to more than 89,000km.
Teams consisted of between four and seven people and all team members were required to record their daily steps throughout the month. Totals were submitted to Health Services on a weekly basis, and each week the combined team totals were published to help keep the motivation and competitive spirit going.
Participants were also encouraged with some promotional gifts, this year in the form of an Exercise Challenge cap and a small tube of sunscreen together with weekly team motivation tips. Some teams had really creative approaches to promoting physical activity which kept them motivated to keep stepping throughout the Challenge.
The Pow Wow Team from Sale stepped into first place, followed closely by the Seaton Steppers. In third place, Worst Pace Scenario from Fire, Risk, Research and Community Preparedness at HQ earned the final spot on the podium. All team members were rewarded with a Rebel Sports voucher for their efforts.
A prize for the most creative team was awarded to The Paper Trail Team from Service Delivery that created, among other things, homemade badges and music podcasts to accompany their weekly walks.
Steptember has once again shown the many benefits of participation that go beyond the physical, including increased connection with colleagues by stepping away from the desk to get the steps up around the office and injecting some fun and healthy competitive spirit between teams. Rumour has it that District 10 might just be the most competitive district in the state.
Participation is key to the success of these challenges and we look forward to seeing previous and new participants in the next Challenge in 2025 during Active April. In the meantime, keep stepping and stay tuned for more information.
Our Creative Prize Winner, The Paper Trail, all received a home-made badge, chocolate, postcard and video of the week's destination. They created a weekly podcast of music to use for that week's walking. This is their final week's reward
