Prioritising mental health and wellbeing
As we move into the Fire Danger Period, members are encouraged to use CFA’s online training and wellbeing services.
In September 2024, more than 70 CFA members attended the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council conference in Sydney, Australasia’s largest emergency management conference.
CFA presented two oral and nine poster presentations, focused on the conference theme, “Embracing innovation and disruption: Designing the future of our sector.”
Cara McIntyre represented Organisational Wellbeing with a poster titled “CFA’s mental health literacy programs: Changing the conversation through storytelling.”
This program emphasises the importance of creating a psychologically healthy and safe environment by integrating storytelling and lived experiences from CFA members, thereby fostering engagement, trust, and behaviour modelling.
it’s important to prioritise psychological safety in our plans and responses during busy periods. Regular check-ins, resilience strategies, and early help-seeking are essential for managing the unique demands of fire and rescue.
CFA members are encouraged to access online training through the Learning Hub.
