Pilot of new pool car booking system

CFA is implementing a new end-to-end carpool management solution to improve how people book a CFA pool vehicle and help us better manage the pool fleet.

A pilot of the proposed system – LBM Fleet - will be conducted at CFA headquarters (HQ) with 18 HQ-based pool vehicles from 3 June 2024.

During the pilot, the existing car booking system will be available for booking district and regional-based vehicles.

The pilot of LBM Fleet will involve a number of changes to existing practices including the introduction of a digital portal and app to manage bookings and trips, and an electronic key safe.

LBM Fleet also includes a geolocation capability (via GPS monitoring of vehicle location) that will eliminate the time and effort associated with manual logbooks (both for vehicle users and administrators).

This system is used successfully by DEECA, Victorian Legal Aid, VICSES and the Department of Education.

Benefits of the new system

  • Better user experience when booking a vehicle
  • Greater security of cars and keys
  • Automatic tracking of trips removing the need for physical logbooks
  • Decreased manual management of system for administrators
  • Ability to expand the system beyond Burwood HQ

Staff based at Burwood HQ will be able to access the system using their CFA email and password via single sign on.

  • The system will be live for bookings from 31 May.
  • From 3 June vehicles will need to be collected via the system.
  • Any vehicles booked for any dates beyond 3 June will need to be re-booked in LBM.

Visit the pilot intranet page to find out more about LBM, access system user guides and videos and read our FAQs including the Vehicle Telematics Policy.

An evaluation after the HQ pilot will determine whether LBM Fleet will be rolled out across CFA.
