It’s time to recognise outstanding CFA members for Australia’s highest fire service distinction - the Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM).

Each year, the Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM) provides the opportunity to formally recognise CFA members who have given so much to CFA and the community.

Members can be considered for an AFSM if they:

  • Are current serving members (within two years) who work on the frontline with prolonged exposure to hazard;
  • Use their frontline experience for training or educating others; and
  • Have made a significant, distinguished or outstanding contribution to CFA and more broadly.

Five CFA members were honoured with AFSMs in this year’s Australia Day Honours.

If you know someone like them, who consistently goes above and beyond, who demonstrates commitment and dedication to their service and in keeping Victorians safe, take the time to nominate them for the Australian Fire Service Medal.

To nominate:

Nominations for the Australian Fire Service Medal are open until 1 May 2026.
