With a new app and refreshed interface, it's easier than ever to submit and review incident reports to CFASafe - anytime, anywhere.

CFA is committed to achieving and maintaining the highest standards in protecting the health and safety of members, visitors and contractors.

CFA's digital electronic incident and hazard reporting system CFASafe has been given a facelift to a more contemporary look and feel.

There is also a new mobile application for submitting and reviewing incident reports.

These changes went live Monday 16 June at 9am. More detail is available below.

What has changed?

We listened, we heard you and we took action to update the CFASafe system so that it will be easier to follow and more intuitive to use. The updates will improve asbestos incident reporting and provide an easy-to-follow management actions process.

The update includes the rebranding of PocketSafety - the mobile app used by CFA to submit and review CFASafe incident reports.

PocketSafety has had a name change to Riskware

Riskware is now the application used on mobile devices to submit and review CFASafe incident reports. PocketSafety will be permanently closed down and will no longer be accessible to members.

Please note that all of your already submitted reports and action plans are secure and will be automatically moved to the new Riskware app.

We’re confident that these changes will reduce the reported clunkiness and increase confidence in reporting incidents and hazards, which is one key way to help us all go home safely every day.

How can I access the new Riskware app?

To access the Riskware app, members will be required to download the Riskware app via the Apple or Google stores.

This can be done by searching for  “Riskware” or using the relevant QR code:

You will be required to log in to your account again.

To assist you in the log in process, a QR code has been created to configure the account to the CFA settings:

Your log in details will remain the same as your current CFASafe and PocketSafety.

  • For employees: log in using your normal login for CFA sites.
  • For volunteers: log in using your volunteer member number i.e. 12345@cfa.vic.gov.au

The password is the same as the password you use to log in to Members Online.

If you require further assistance, refer to the Using Riskware guidelines or speak to your Health and Safety Advisor.

Reporting hazards or incidents

Reporting all health and safety incidents, near misses or hazards is crucial to taking necessary actions in managing potential risks and preventing reoccurrence.

As always, you should verbally let your manager, captain or supervisor know of any hazards, incident or injury so they can provide the support you need to facilitate any necessary actions.

Your existing access to CFASafe has been automatically switched over and you can access CFASafe via Members Online as well as the desktop icon on CFA-owned computers.

The reporting template has been updated to have a similar look and feel to the app, meaning you can report hazards and incidents using the one template.

For all urgent and serious reports, contact the Health and Safety Duty Officer on 03 9262 8668.

Where do I go if I need assistance?

Updated user guides and instructions have been developed and can be found on the safety page on Members Online.

If further support is required CFA's Health and Safety advisors are also available to assist you. You can find your advisor on our dedicated page on Members Online.
