The CFA Health Services tent was a hotspot at this year’s CFA/VFBV State Championships, held in Mooroopna, with hundreds of members visiting the tent.

Both the Junior and Senior weekends saw members coming in to participate in a range of health activities, and to find out more about free health programs offered to brigades throughout the year.

As is a tradition at Champs, the Health Services team provided free and confidential heart health checks to members and their families. There were also health activities available for Junior members. By the end of Champs, 315 people had taken the opportunity to check their health.

Following one heart health check, a brigade member from District 8 stated:

“Good discussion about [heart disease] risk factors, and practical lifestyle changes. Very informative.”

The traditional grip strength competition, ‘Beat the Chief’, was also available to members. With more than 100 members testing their grip strength to win prizes. Winners will be contacted in the coming weeks.

If you would like to know more about free heart health checks available to brigades throughout the year, please visit the Health Watch page on Members Online, or you can book directly using this online booking form. Health Watch is booking out fast this year, so please book soon to avoid disappointment.

If you are interested in booking our Junior Health program FitKidz, available to brigades, please click here to find out more.

CFA Health Services would like to thank all members for their participation over the two weekends.
