Longstanding Horsham Fire Brigade member Ray Carmen has received a Certificate of Recognition for his commitment to community fire safety through delivery of Fire Equipment Maintenance (FEM).

A member of CFA for nearly 50 years, Ray has delivered FEM services across Horsham and surrounding areas.

Industry Fire Prevention Manager Leigh Marsh said the certificate acknowledged Ray's outstanding contribution to fire prevention in the community.

“Ray has been an incredible advocate for his brigade and CFA through his work in the FEM program,” Leigh said.

“He hasn’t just delivered FEM services - he’s also shared his knowledge and experience with others, helping to build capability and strengthen the program for the future.

“As we celebrate 80 years of FEM, members like Ray represent the heart of the program - dedicated volunteers who have driven its success.”

A special celebration lunch to mark the 80th is set to take place in August, with details to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Brigades and individuals are encouraged to share historical material and stories to help showcase FEM’s journey over the past 80 years.

Submissions can be sent via email to fem@cfa.vic.gov.au

Members are asked to include their contact details. As a token of appreciation, those who provide material will receive a historical patch for their collection (while supplies last).
