Immerse yourself in training at the Champs
The CFA/VFBV State Championships provide the opportunity for members to get hands on with CFA’s immersive, scenario-based training options.
In addition to equipment displays, award presentations and food and drink vans, across both weekends CFA’s Training team will once again have a strong presence on site.
The crowd-favourite Flaim Virtual Reality will be back this year, with the opportunity to immerse yourself in realistic firefighting experiences, safely.
Alongside it will be the mixed reality fire aviation simulator, providing a closer look at firefighting from the skies.
New at the Championships this year will be a model of CFA’s new driving simulator, currently in development with MOTUM. Once developed these simulators will supplement existing driver training, allowing volunteers to experience high-risk scenarios that are difficult or impossible to replicate in real life.
The Training team will also be on hand to help you with training enquiries including using the Learning Hub. A dedicated Learning Hub area will allow members to sit with the Training team and get support, including help with navigating course pathways and assessments.
“While the State Championships are about testing the skills of our volunteers, they’re also about building them,” DCO Operational Doctrine and Training Rohan Luke said.
“Whether you’re competing at the events, supporting your brigade or a member of the community, we encourage you to take time to visit the training display to learn more about what training is on offer at CFA.
“We look forward to seeing you there.”
After 20 years, the CFA/VFBV State Championships return to the historic Stawell North Park Recreation Reserve, Newington Rd, Stawell, with the Urban Junior competition kicking off on 21-22 March, followed by the Urban Senior, Rural Junior and Rural Senior events on 28-29 March.
