Using digital technology and online platforms to make CFA a better place to volunteer and work is what the Digital Communications team is all about.

The team, which is part of the Communications and Stakeholder Relations department, is responsible for many of the websites, content and digital platforms that CFA members engage with on a daily basis.

Their aim is to encourage and support the use of digital technology across CFA to make it easier for members to carry out their roles effectively.

One of the major improvements that has been implemented in the past year has been the introduction of a new Content Management System (CMS).

The CMS gives content owners and subject matter experts the ability to manage their own online content - critical for ensuring information is kept up to date and relevant.

For example, the new Research & Development section on Members Online, developed by the digital team, is now being managed by the R&D team after only a couple of hours’ training.

More than 100 content managers have been trained on Members Online (the intranet formerly known as CFA Online), the CFA website and the News & Media site in the 12 months since the new system has been live.

The new CMS has also been used to digitise and automate various operational and corporate processes including QR code check-ins for VEMTC training campuses, child safety reporting, management of fireground communications channels and freedom of information requests.

The Digital team also manages the CFA Digital Library, our two engagement platforms - Your Say CFA (for consulting with CFA members) and Engage CFA (for consulting with the community) - and supports CFA YouTube livestream events such as the Volunteer Forums.
