More than 110 emergency services personnel from across eastern Victoria met in Marlo to reconnect and network after their role in the 2019-20 bushfires.

Hosted by Marlo and Newmerella brigades, the Orbost Group dinner was the first time members had got together since Black Summer.

Members from as far away as Cann River attended the event at the Marlo Angling Club, where guests were treated to a spit roast dinner and entertainment from the Orbost Secondary School Band and local band the Remedies.

In addition to CFA volunteers, members from SES, DELWP, Red Cross and other agencies attended.

District 11 Regional BASO Kylie Findley said the event was a great success.

“It was a fantastic opportunity to bring people together for an informal get-together after a challenging couple of years since the fires,” Kylie said.

“It was also a great opportunity for people to network and reconnect prior to pre-season training and the upcoming fire season.”
