Fleet data is changing in RMS and SAP
Master data for Fleet assets is being updated to better serve CFA's needs
The RMS Integration from SAP S/4 project is going live on 18 September, creating consistency in CFA’s Fleet and Asset Master data and simplifying our data management processes.
Background
Over the past 20 years, CFA has used both RMS and SAP ECC to manage Fleet asset data. Having two separate systems has created inconsistent and incomplete data, which has resulted in challenges for our operational and support staff.
What’s changing
From 18 September, SAP S/4HANA and RMS will be integrated and linked, meaning data for all CFA and brigade-owned vehicles and trailers will be available to view in both systems. All vehicle data will remain visible, and changes to Fleet Master data will be managed via a centralised team.
From 8 September to 18 September, a change freeze for Fleet master data in both RMS and SAP will be implemented to support a smooth transition. If you require urgent data changes within this period, please contact fleet.changes@cfa.vic.gov.au
1. Updates to Fleet asset master data
All Fleet master data has been reconciled between RMS and SAP S/4 during over the past three months, in accordance with a Vehicle Classification and Naming Guideline derived from the Chief Officer’s Guidelines for CFA Assets.
For more information on what data has changed, including a link to the Vehicle Classification and Naming Guideline, please visit Members Online.
2. Updates to how Fleet master data is managed
To support this change and simplify user experience, a centralised team comprising members from Fleet, Service Delivery Reporting Centre, and Operational Communications will be exclusively managing all Fleet master data requests via a new digital form.
3. Data will appear differently in some systems
You may notice that new categories and typology have been introduced, as well as some minor changes to naming conventions. All information is still available but may be in a different place to where it used to be. For example, where the typology of a Tanker may have said 3.4D, it will now say “Heavy”, but the value of “3.4D” can still be found in “Attribute View” in RMS.
