Exciting launch: Instructor availability tool soon to go live
We are thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of our new Instructor Availability Tool, designed to streamline scheduling and enhance communication in our Learning & Development (L&D) teams.
Currently in the final stages of user testing, this tool aims to improve how we prepare our training calendar and manage last-minute changes, ensuring a smoother experience for both instructors and L&D teams.
The Instructor Availability Tool, similar to the IMT availability tool, is intended for our volunteer instructors to input their availability. Participation is voluntary but highly beneficial, as it provides crucial information to help our L&D teams efficiently schedule training sessions, workshops, and other learning activities. This tool bridges the gap between instructor schedules and training needs, offering a more organised and responsive approach to planning. A set of principles and user guides will accompany the launch.
Why should instructors use this tool?
While optional, using the Instructor Availability Tool offers several advantages:
1. Enhanced scheduling: By knowing when instructors are available, our L&D teams can more effectively schedule sessions, avoiding conflicts and maximising the use of our instructional resources.
2. Last-minute flexibility: In the event of sudden changes or cancellations, having a clear view of availability allows for quick adjustments, minimising disruption and maintaining the quality of our training programs.
3. Support for instructors: This tool provides a communication channel, helping instructors manage their commitments and workloads more efficiently.
The tool allows instructors to communicate their availability across districts or regions directly to all L&D teams, providing greater visibility and easier scheduling alignment. This will allow the L&D teams to have greater visibility and easier ways to match your schedule with the training schedule.
How does it work?
Instructors can access the tool through our members online. The interface is intuitive, allowing instructors to easily update their availability, preferred times for delivering training, and any periods they are unavailable. This information is then accessible to our L&D teams, who can use it to plan and adjust the training calendar accordingly.
Note that indicating availability does not lock instructors into delivering training without prior discussion with the Coordinator.
A collaborative effort
The development and launch of the Instructor Availability Tool have been a collaborative effort, reflecting our commitment to supporting our instructors and enhancing the effectiveness of delivering our training programs. We believe this tool will play a pivotal role in fostering a more organised and responsive learning environment and hope that it will match volunteers’ availability with scheduled training to make it easier for all.
Launch date
We are currently testing the tool and expect that this will be available for volunteer instructors and Learning and Development teams to access by the end of August. Stay tuned for further updates and get ready to take advantage of this exciting new resource!
