D13 Headquarters Brigade Honours 60 years of service

On April 16th District 13 HQ Brigade honoured their members, most notably Bill McIntosh who received his 60 Year service award and CFA Life Membership.
Bill McIntosh began his career as a reserve firefighter with Edithvale Fire Brigade in December 1958. He transitioned into a staff role as Team Leader Support Officer in Mechanics and Maintenance, where his technical expertise and leadership ensured the readiness of firefighting equipment.
Bill's career spans numerous significant roles, but his position as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) at Fiskville Training College stands out as a career highlight. From 1980 to 1984, Bill played a pivotal role in shaping the training standards for both volunteer and career firefighters, leaving a lasting impact on the fire service.
In 1989, Bill was appointed Deputy Chief Officer (DCO) of Support Services, and in 1995, he transitioned to the role of DCO of Operations. In this capacity, he successfully managed the overall operations of CFA, further cementing his leadership and expertise within the fire service.
In 2007, Bill played a pivotal role in the establishment of the District 13 HQ Brigade. Once the Brigade was officially recognised, Bill focused on building a strong and committed membership base. He then transitioned into a mentorship role, generously sharing his extensive knowledge and experience to guide and train new members.

Bill’s dedication, professionalism, and mentorship have left a lasting impact on CFA, and his unwavering commitment to protecting the community over six decades stands as a testament to his exceptional service and leadership.
Joining Bill to help him celebrate this amazing achievement was Kevin Chisholm, State President of the CFA Rescue Association, of which both Kevin and Bill were founding members in 1985.
The D13 Headquarters brigade members were thrilled to present Bill not just with his 60-year service award, but also CFA Life Membership.
