Country football to acknowledge emergency services

Country football leagues in Victoria are holding an Emergency Services Appreciation Round on 23 May to acknowledge the work done by CFA, Fire Rescue Victoria, Forest Fire Management Victoria, VICSES, Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria.

 

Before games on this day, there will be a guard of honour for emergency services personnel and a member of the emergency services will be invited to toss the coin.

At the end of the game, an emergency services person will present an award to the player who best represented the CFA values of safety, teamwork, adaptable, integrity and respect.

This year, the following football leagues are taking part:

  • North Central Football League
  • Loddon Valley Football Netball League
  • Maryborough/ Castlemaine Football League
  • Kyabram District Football Netball League
  • Central Murray Football Netball League

The leagues are contacting emergency services personnel in their area to invite them to attend free of charge.

Football clubs in the Longwood and Harcourt areas will be acknowledging the huge effort made by CFA volunteers and other emergency services personnel during the January 2026 fires.

Members of the emergency services and their families can attend these games free of charge at participating matched by showing there CFA ID card or by wearing CFA workwear, turnout gear or by arriving in an emergency vehicle.
