CFA to showcase expertise at emergency management conference
CFA members are gearing up to present at Australasia’s largest emergency management conference.
The Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council (AFAC) conference, which will be held from 3 to 6 September 2024 in Sydney, focuses on 'Embracing Innovation and Disruption: Designing the Future of Our Sector.' More than 70 CFA members from all levels of the organisation, from volunteers to the Board, will attend and participate in various aspects of the event including attending conference presentations, trade show exhibition, view poster presentations and attending a gala dinner event.
CFA will contribute to the conference with two oral presentations and nine poster presentations that reflect the event’s central themes.
Culture and Leadership stream: Volunteer and staff co-presenters Shandelle Ross (District 8), Kathryn Williams (District 8), Tracey Ruse (People & Culture) will present on “Fostering Diversity and Empowering Women: CFA’s Women in Leadership Mentoring Program.” This session will delve into the impact of CFA’s mentoring program which aims to enhance leadership opportunities for women within CFA.
Volunteer Workforce stream: Staff members Lisa Clinch (District 20) and Kirsten Dudink (District 6) will discuss “Succession Planning in Volunteer-Based Emergency Services.” Their presentation will offer insights into strategies for maintaining effective volunteer teams in emergency services.
CFA’s participation underscores its commitment to advancing emergency management practices. By sharing its experiences and expertise, CFA contributes to valuable discussions on improving emergency response and implementing effective strategies. This involvement offers opportunities for learning and collaboration with other professionals in the field.
