CFA members to be honoured at national memorial service
The families of three CFA volunteers who lost their lives in the line of duty will be presented with memorial medallions at the 2026 AFAC National Memorial Service on Friday 8 May.
The annual service, held at the National Emergency Services Memorial in Canberra, honours fire and emergency service personnel who have died in the line of duty. During the service, AFAC Memorial Medallions are presented to the families of those being commemorated.
Joseph Smith (Lilydale Fire Brigade), Francis Symington (Bacchus Marsh Fire Brigade), and Walter Anderson (Kangaroo Flat Fire Brigade) were this year added to the CFA Honour Roll following a review of historical records.
Their names will also be added to the national memorial - alongside more than 30 others - recognising their dedication to protecting our communities.
CFA leaders will be in attendance at the service.
