CFA members prioritise heart health at 2026 State Champs

122 free heart health checks were delivered at Champs 2026. 122 free heart health checks were delivered at Champs 2026.

The CFA Health Services tent was once again a hive of activity at this year’s CFA-VFBV State Firefighter Championships in Stawell.

Across both weekends, hundreds of members and families stopped by to learn about our year-round health support and receive a free heart health check.

Continuing this popular Championships tradition, the team provided onsite heart health checks to 122 participants who took the proactive step of getting checked.

The feedback from our members speaks for itself:

"Health Services staff gave great feedback on health issues of concern and provided practical advice on how to improve."

"Health Services is an essential function within CFA given the nature of the work we do."

The traditional grip strength competition, ‘Beat the Chief’, was also available to members. Members’ competitive spirit was alive and well with 94 members putting their strength to the test for a chance to win prizes. Winners will be contacted in the coming weeks.

If you missed us at Stawell, brigades and volunteers can still access our services via the Health Watch program. Due to high demand, Health Watch bookings are filling up rapidly for the remainder of 2026, so book soon to ensure your brigade doesn't miss out.

CFA Health Services would like to extend a sincere thank you to all members who participated and made the two weekends such a success.
